Football v Homophobia: Standing Together for Inclusion

February 18, 2026

Our club proudly showed its support for Football v Homophobia, joining clubs across the country in taking a stand against discrimination and promoting inclusion within the game.

Football is for everyone. That message was clear as our players took to the pitch wearing rainbow laces and specially designed t-shirts to highlight the importance of equality and acceptance in sport. The visual show of support reflected our commitment to creating a safe, welcoming environment for all players, coaches, supporters and volunteers.

The annual Football v Homophobia campaign unites teams around the world in challenging discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression. As a club, we believe that football should always be a place where people can be themselves without fear of prejudice.

Supporting Through Education

Our commitment extended beyond matchday.

We organised two dedicated training evenings for our players focused on inclusion, respect and the importance of allyship in football. In addition, our coaching team took part in a special training day to further strengthen their understanding and ensure our club environment continues to reflect our core values.

By educating both players and coaches, we are helping to build a culture that goes beyond words — one that actively supports diversity at every level of the club.

U13s Cup Victory in Style

The weekend also brought an exciting cup fixture for our U13s, who faced Aberaman — a strong side competing in the division above and winners of their previous two cup ties.

It was a closely fought contest, with few clear-cut chances for either side. Both teams showed determination and discipline, and the game looked destined for penalties as the coaches began organising the takers with just one minute left on the clock.

Then came the decisive moment.

Iris threaded a perfectly weighted pass through to Amelia. With two defenders closing her down, she kept her composure, held her nerve, and calmly slotted the ball into the net. The crowd erupted as we secured a dramatic late winner and a hard-earned victory.

Player of the Match

Player of the Match was awarded to Megan H for an outstanding defensive performance. She commanded the back line superbly, calmly clearing danger and making perfectly timed challenges throughout the game. Her leadership and composure were instrumental in keeping a strong opposition at bay.
